Fall in love with Aix-en-Provence
Curated and photographed by Emilie Johnson
“Aix-en-Provence is a place of sun and elegance. Here, one breathes differently; the beauty startles. The French are at their best – chic and cultured, their most sympathetic side ripened by the sun. I have spent the last five years basking in the glow of the French and this city, and resolutely never want to live anywhere else. Wandering down every passageway, stepping into boutique after boutique, beholding in awe many exhibitions and savoring marvels of the region. I’ve kept a running list of the most inspiring and artful spots. Aix’s light glazes everything it touches honey, its fountains cascade thermal acqua pura serenading the town’s squares, its cobblestone streets twist and yaw, the mistral wind bellows…roving here is a full sensory affair. You will fall in love. This guide is a sketch of some of the best art centers, neighborhoods, shops, restaurants and nearby spots not to miss in this winsome town.”
