Travel guide N.47

Written and photographed by Louis Boucharinc

Rio de Janeiro is a fascinating city. There’s a huge contrast between the rich districts with their beautiful beaches and the favelas. Brazilians are very warm people and the city’s wide range of tropical colors  — blue, yellow and green, will make you feel relaxed and forget about the noise from the traffic. But there’s one thing I’d like to insist on: you should always be careful when exploring the city. Rio is still not safe everywhere. All the places featured in this guide are quite central and you can easily take taxis which are very, very cheap. I visited Rio in August which I believe was a better time compared to the Carnaval period in February: there were fewer tourists and people in the streets, and it wasn’t as hot.

Format: Digital travel guide (16 places, 48 pages). You’ll receive a link to download the PDF file, optimized for mobile.

What to expect: rather than an exhaustive directory, this guide offers select points of interest and venues that have been carefully curated by Louis, International tennis umpire and photographer from France. It includes:

- a complete list of his favorite spots from his recent trip: places that are photogenic, but also quite central and safe.

- useful copy explaining why you should go to each spot, what’s a must-have and when is the best time to go;

- beautiful photography to give you a first glance of the places;

- an online map with all the spots so you can easily visualize them and get directions to get there.
