Travel guide N.32

Written and photographed by Rosella Degori

Calabria is not for everyone. If your idea of the perfect travel experience involves traditional destinations, luxury hotels, trendy restaurants, hipster coffee shops etc. – well, you’d better look elsewhere. This region, included among the best places to visit in 2017 by New York Times, is still wild and ‘archaic’ in many aspects, and is the ideal destination for a deeply authentic adventure away from the beaten path. Still quite unknown to many, Calabria unfolds a story that dates back to hundred thousand years BC. Once one of the most important Greek colonies in the Mediterranean, (before being colonised by the Brutii, Ostrogoths, Byzantines), it’s filled with archaeological records from this glorious past and has kept amazing food traditions. If this is enough to pique your interest, come with me. I’ll show you around some of my favorite spots. Oh and don't forget to rent a car, it's pretty essential over here.

Format: Digital travel guide (15 places, 45 pages). You’ll receive a link to download the PDF file, optimized for mobile.

What to expect: rather than an exhaustive directory, this guide offers select points of interest and venues that have been carefully curated by Rosella a London-based Italian photographer. It includes:

- a complete list of her favorite spots on a road trip around this lesser known part of Italy;

- useful copy explaining why you should go to each spot, what’s a must-have and when is the best time to go;

- beautiful photography to give you a first glance of the places;

- an online map with all the spots so you can easily visualize them and get directions to get there.
