The Other D.C.
by David Santori
There is so much focus on Washington, D.C. as the nation’s capital that you just can’t escape it. However, the spotlight being so much on politics and the government, people who don’t live in the city tend to forget that there is a lot more to Washington than the White House, the Capitol and the monuments. I look at D.C. from a different perspective. I see the unexpected D.C. or what I like to call ‘the other D.C.’ - the colorful and quaint streets, the charming and European façades, the eclectic side with character that tends to go unnoticed. The warmth of the city, its true spirit, lies somewhere else - away from what the tour guides tell you to do. The nation’s capital begs to be photographed more and discovered outside of the traditional tourist spots - welcome to "the other D.C."!
