17 Boulevard Poissonnière, 75002 Paris, France
Hotel des Grands Boulevards comes to life in a large, elegant building surrounded by the Sentier and its entrepreneurs, the Faubourg Montmartre’s theatres and the Opera House, close to Strasbourg Saint-Denis’ sleepless nights and the Faubourg Poissonnière’s hip restaurants. Set away from the boulevard, it was built shortly before the French Revolution on the foundation of an old garden, now a secret garden reached through a long passageway into the building. The hotel features 50 bedrooms, a restaurant and a rooftop terrace designed by Dorothée Meilichzon.
Inspired by building’s history without falling into the cliché Louis XVI style, the interior bridges the gap between romanticism and aristocracy.
On the ground floor, the restaurant menu conceived in collaboration with chef Giovanni Passerini revisits the great classics of French-Italian country cooking with the best soured products. After dinner, stop for a cocktail at The Shell, the hotel’s sultry-red boudoir of a cocktail bar inspired by Marie-Antoinette’s eccentric love for ornamental sea shells.
